NSW Government Signs MoU with Singapore to Strengthen Cooperation across Research and Innovation
The NSW Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) to strengthen innovation and economic ties in areas of deep tech.
The MoU connects the complementary strengths of both jurisdictions—linking NSW’s expertise in RNA manufacturing and quantum research applications with Singapore’s leadership in semiconductors.
Chief Scientist & Engineer Professor Hugh Durrant-Whyte, who attended the signing ceremony in Singapore with A*STAR CEO Mr Beh Kian Teik, said that the MoU would focus on three areas of strategic and complementary capability—quantum technologies, RNA therapeutics and semiconductors.
“This MoU builds on the NSW Government’s priorities, including the Innovation Blueprint, the 20-Year R&D Roadmap and the Trade and Investment Strategy, while reinforcing major investments such as the RNA Research and Manufacturing Facility, the Sydney Quantum Academy, and semiconductor initiatives through the Semiconductor Sector Service Bureau (S3B) and the Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility.
“The MoU provides a formal platform to strengthen relationships, explore joint activities and position NSW as a partner of choice for Singapore in these sectors,” Professor Durrant-Whyte said.
