RNA Investment Fund
The NSW Government is consulting on the establishment of an NSW RNA Investment Fund to identify and invest in companies developing promising RNA therapeutics and related technologies in NSW. Through partnering with a venture capital fund manager, the Fund would accelerate commercialisation and new RNA ventures in NSW.
The proposed Fund would build on the existing NSW Government initiatives supporting research, commercialisation and training in the RNA ecosystem (see RNA R&D initiatives).
Design of the Fund
The design of the Fund would be led by the OCSE. The Fund would identify and invest in companies developing promising RNA therapeutics and related technologies in NSW. The Fund would incorporate the RNA Research and Manufacturing Facility in development of those innovations. The NSW Government would partner with a venture capital fund manager to establish the Fund (the General Partner, GP) and would contribute funding as a Limited Partner (LP). The GP would be expected to also contribute funding and seek further funding from other LPs.
Consultation on the Fund
The OCSE is undertaking a consultation on the proposed design of the Investment Fund, seeking feedback from interested stakeholders. The consultation will inform the proposed design of the Fund and the NSW Government’s decision to launch the Fund.
